Director: at least 50 bosses, one per weapon, and enemies never respawn
In an October 9 interview, director Soulframe Liang tied every weapon to a boss, putting the count at 50 or more, and confirmed defeated enemies stay dead.

One boss behind every weapon
Director Soulframe Liang said in an October 9 interview that the game has 30 main weapons and twenty-odd secondary ones, and that every one of them is taken from a boss. That makes at least one boss per weapon: 50 or more in all.
Bosses know their weapons
Some bosses react when you fight them with a weapon tied to them, with a line of their own. Weapon levels can also be reset and moved to another weapon, so trying a new boss weapon does not waste upgrades.
Defeated enemies stay dead
Liang confirmed that enemies do not respawn: the team wants every encounter to be new, so stronger gear comes from exploring places you have not been yet, not from farming the same fight.
Early demo builds that reset enemies at rest points no longer reflect the game.
