He opens mounted, swinging a polearm from the saddle and covering the clearing in smoke screens. His horse rears after a red flash and stamps down where you stood.

At a little over half health he dismounts and fights behind a round spiked shield. While he blocks, a guard gauge shows under his health bar; his leaping slam comes after a red flash. Same name, same bar.
How to beat Jing Ye
Before this fight, pick up two things earlier in Crimson Forest. The Shieldbreaker Talisman, in a chest at a bandit camp on the way, answers his spiked shield on foot: 50% more damage to Shield Durability and 30% less damage from Spiked Shields. Kuye Dew, in the outlaw hideout under the forest that the Crimson Forest Tunnel Crank opens, cuts damage taken by 20% for 15 seconds.
